New Mexico, Middle Rio Grande Valley

In simple words, it’s sunny, dry, warmer than most places, but not as hot as Arizona. Perfect for growing year-round. Below, I’ve included some sort of accurate, sort of scientific information if you’re curious…

Elevation: 5500′

Hardiness Zone: 7a

Last Spring Frost Date: May 10 -corrected, this is actually our planting date. May 1 is our last frost date. Its a weird mental thing with me.

First Fall Frost Date: October 20

Average Yearly Rainfall: 18″ (depending on who you talk to)

Year-round Temperature Range: 17* – 100*F

Average Relative Humidity: Morning- 59% Afternoon- 29%

Summer Temperature Range: 65* – 100*F

Winter Temperature Range: 17* – 55*F

Hottest Month: July

Coldest Month: January

Dryest Month: March

Wettest Month: August

In the last few years, it has really been dryer than this reflects, and as for snowfall, here in the valley we get maybe one good snowstorm that is enough to spend the afternoon playing in it with the kids. The Sandia & Manzano Mountain Ranges are very close to the East of us, and because of thier elevation (about 7500′) spend a good portion of the winter under a blanket of snow.
