This blog is about my gardening experiments. We live on about a 1/3rd acre in rural/ suburban New Mexico about 30 miles south of Albuquerque. A great climate for gardening year round, which is what I’m interested in. We are raising five children, and we both work full-time, so there are time constraints, but my goals are as follows:

  1. Enjoy gardening/sustainable living as a mental & physical therapy.
  2. Provide some food, agricultural background, and quality of life for my family.
  3. To become more self-sufficient, and teach my children that it’s possible.
  4. Experiment with different crops, season extension, & some organic methods to get a sense of the feasability of someday having a market garden/ CSA. (When the kids are grown & I don’t need so much money!)

Let’s hear it for garden experiments! They’re the best way to find out what works for you, and fun besides. Beautiful start to your blog – I look forward to reading more.

This is the year for experiments on my little plot, I’ve never had this much variety in one year. I guess I’m trying to find my favorites.
